2014 Chevy Colorado

GM has already confirmed that it has started manufacturing 2014 Chevy Colorado. In a press release, the automaker said it feels the new design planned for the car, its intended capability and fuel efficiency will attract even the harshest critic in the U.S.

2014 Chevy Colorado changes

We have laid our hands on some spy photos, as far as we can tell, cosmetic variations in the 2014 Chevrolet Colorado will only be limited to its shape. It is more upright, and the front end is rectangular in order for it to have a little resemblance with other GM’s truck. We also saw something that looks like a front skid plate; this is a proof that the incoming Colorado car is a 4-wheel-drive model. The frame rails which have been retouched looks so substantial; this is an indication that GM is serious about making the 2014 Colorado a real best-seller. It will compete with the Toyota Tacoma with the expected 6500-lb towing capacity.

2014 Chevy Colorado Engines

Another area we know the U.S bound Chevrolet Colorado 2014 will change is in the engine line up. The previous Colorado made was offered with two 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine options. The U.S. market is averse to diesel and will possibly get a four-cylinder and six-cylinder gasoline options. But with the global emissions standards that is about to be enforced, we could see a Duramax diesel engine option in the U.S., perhaps the larger 180-hp 2.8-liter with 347 lb-ft of torque or the modified 2.0-liter turbo-four planned for the next mode of the Chevrolet Cruze. We will not be surprised if the newly introduced 2.5-liter Ecotec I-4 that delivers 190 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and some modified version of the 3.6-liter V-6 engine makes an entry in the 2014 Colorado. Additionally, we have also heard some rumours that a 2.0-liter turbo I-4 could also be one of the engine options coming. We also expect either a six-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission.

Whichever engine option that gets to the U.S., intended buyers are assured of getting a car that will offer a good fuel economy. The amount of money one can save on fuel is a good thing to consider when buying a vehicle. Fuel efficiency apart, the 2014 Chevy Colorado may likely not be the most beautifully designed truck in the market upon its release, but with the kind of performance we are expecting; it will certainly get open-mouth admirations from Chevrolet critics.

Unfortunately, GM has not mentioned anything about the price of the 2014 Chevrolet Colorado, but we know it will not be too expensive. We previously thought the new Colorado will get to the U.S. soon, but with the number of changes we have heard of, it may not get there until late 2013 or even early 2014 as a 2015 model. With the expected features, engine options/performance, it is definitely worth waiting for.

There have been some speculations, some originating from the GM headquarter that the Chevrolet Colorado 2014 may assume a new name in the U.S. For instance, the model is called the S-10 in Brazil. Whatever name it is called eventually, many people will still buy the midsize truck and its competitors will rush back to the manufacturing plants to prevent it from taking over the market totally.
