The new Skoda Rapid has finally been unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, and it will be released in Europe this October. It is the ideal family car; affordable, roomy and luxuriously furnished. It has a well proportionate exterior with a new brand logo at the front (just on the edge of the bonnet), and a refreshed rear end. The taillight has the typical Skoda C design redesigned and reshaped with a fine crystalline grind.
The Skoda Rapid will sit between the Octavia hatch and the Fabia supermini in price and size. The car’s well-spaced interior will be difficult to match by the other cars in the segment. It offers generous knee and headroom, and a cargo space of around 550 litres. Seven impressive powertrain options will be offered: Two diesel and five petrol engines. Its starting price is expected to be approximately £12,000.
Renault also revealed the fourth generation super mini Clio today. According to the automaker, it plans to win back its position as the class leader with the launch of the model. The Clio Mk 7 looks like the Fluence and DeZir concept vehicles which were recently unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show; it is longer, larger, but has a lower wheelbase than the Clio Mk 3. The Clio 4 has an enhanced exterior, and the interior was also upgraded to feature more convenience features. It has some optional features such as a 12 inch touch screen.
The camouflage was also removed from an all new “Kodo” designed Mazda 6 estate car today. The car is expected to be available in dealerships very soon. Mazda’s all new Sky Active technology and i-ELOOP energy regeneration system will be available.
The Citroen DS Numero 9 concept which was unveiled at Beijing motor show earlier this year also stepped on the pavilion today. The car caused a stir on its first display in Europe; it gave us an idea of how the Citroen DS saloon could look like.
A Nissan Juke-sized SsangYong e-XIV concept car (it is a typical concept car; we do not know the styling features the car will have or if it would be made at all) was unveiled today. It is equipped with a 107 HP 1.0-litre 2-cylinder petrol engine and a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery with theoretical range of 373 miles.
Those expecting the Ferrari Enzo successor “the F70″ to debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show were disappointed when it revealed only the car’s carbon monocoque. Well, the good thing is that we have seen the all-new, flagship Ferrari in prints. It is equipped with a V12 motor, and according to some sources, it will feature a hybrid technology.
The 2012 Paris Motor Show enters its eleventh day tomorrow, and we are still waiting for cars like the Dacia Sandero, Seat Leon, Honda CR–V, and the Kia Carens to be unveiled.
