The automotive industry is a busy world; new cars are developed and built every day. Among the new cars that are going through production at the moment, the 2014 Toyota highlander hybrid stands out. Everybody is talking about this special car. In fact, it is one of the most discussed subjects among car enthusiasts. The street is awash with rumors and speculations about it. One of the rumors that are gaining prominence is that this car will be more fashionable than its precursor and it will also offer a more powerful ride. How powerful that could can only be imagined for now.
So, what exactly is there to discuss about the new highland? Not much information is available about the vehicle now, but we know that Toyota engineers are working hard to replace the 2012 Toyota Highlander with a hybrid version for the 2014 model year. The 2014 Toyota Highlander will not be released before ending 2013 and it is still 2012; Toyota is not in haste to disclose anything about the vehicle now. We have seen some leaked photos of the car but unfortunately, not much detail can be lifted from the leaked photos we saw. The only thing we can do to figure out Toyota’s plan is to observe recent developments, by looking closely at previous Highlanders, and monitoring the direction hybrid cars are going.
It is a fact that hybrids are not as popular as the conventional cars, but most car users have started embracing the idea behind the development of the technology. Nobody wants to continue paying the exorbitant prices for gas? Many people are now recognizing the benefits of hybrid technology, and Toyota has done the right thing by taking this route.
By looking closely at the current Toyota highlander and from what we saw in the leaked photos, it is easy to see that Toyota has not deviated completely from its signature design. New model or not, the 2014 Toyota Highlander is a continuation of all Highlander family and design stays the same. The exterior design of the car is stylish without being imposing. Some exterior color options used in the 2012 model may be applied for the 2014 version. Things are expected to get better after a major redesign; the outstanding interior design of the 2012 model could be improved upon in the 2014 version of Toyota Highlander. Impressive convenience features such as the iconic automatic start and stop button and is expected to be offered again.
The current Highlander pairs a 3.5-Liter Double Overhead Cam Hybrid engine with a 2.7-Liter Double Overhead Cam Gasoline engine to get a mileage of 20/25. There could be a major step up in the choice of engine options for the 2014 version. Some features that could improve the fuel economy might be added. So, we can expect the coming model to get a better mileage from whatever powertrain the engineers settle for.
Toyota has not confirmed or denied most of what is written here. What we are working on at the moment are mere speculations. It is hard to speculate the sticker price Toyota will put on the 2014 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, but you should expect an upward review of the $28,240 paid for the current model.
