2014 Mazda CX-9

The current model is a bit boring and looks like a minivan but Mazda has redesigned a new model to be more interesting. This new Mazda CX-9 model was unveiled at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show in October. Although the vehicle retains the seven-passenger seating capacity, it has a more refined interior. With the about to be released 2014 CX-9, Mazda has proven that it is ahead of the pack when it comes to manufacturing family vehicles that are attractively designed and fun to drive.

2014 Mazda CX-9 Redesign

The 2014 Mazda CX-9 is a sporty looking, three-row crossover sport-utility vehicle with a high-quality cabin. From the reports we gathered, the car is redesigned with the Mazda’s “gas-saving” SkyActiv technologies; the weight was reduced so as to improve the fuel economy. The profile of the car was not totally altered and the dimensions are roughly the same, but the old Nagare design theme was replaced by the new Mazda’s KODO (Soul of Motion) design language. So, the 2014 CX-9 redesign features bolder lines at the front and rear, and it also has a stronger presence and sportier styling.

Aside from the more aggressive front-end styling, the Mazda CX-9 2014 model also offers a better interior with modern high-tech convenience features. There are updates to the navigation and audio system with the introduction of the voice-command system. Other convenience features like an improved infotainment system and a speech-recognition device that uses the Human Machine Interface (HMI) are also expect. It is also packed with some of the latest active safety features such as Lane Departure Warning System, High Beam Control System and Forward Obstruction Warning System which can help drivers recognize dangers ahead.

Although the 2014 CX-9 displayed at the Sydney Motor show had a 3.7L engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission under its hood, there are speculations that the 2014 CX-9 redesign will be offered with a 3.2-liter V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission when it hits the dealerships. The 163 horsepower, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder SkyActiv gasoline unit (which runs a 14:1 compression ratio) used by the CX-5 is expected to be released later. A new 2.2-liter diesel engine that will deliver 170-hp and over 300 lb-ft of torque may be made for the North America market.

The current CX-9 is a sales giant; more than 210,000 units have been sold in about 74 countries. The vehicle is the popular range-topping midsize crossover in Australia and North America. With the redesigning, better driving dynamics and a line-up of high performing engines, we expect the new Mazda CX-9 2014 model to achieve better success in the market upon its release. The exterior design and the more sophisticated interior further enhance the quality of the Mazda CX-9 line-up with the release of the new model.

The 2014 Mazda CX-9 will likely get to the United States market before July next year.  Pricing information has not been officially released; the details are expected to be released before the car’s release date.
