Kia has finally decided to give its popular range of products some improvements and cosmetic upgrades. Its best-selling model in the U.S., the sorento is not left out. A 2014 Kia Sorento SUV is coming; the old model is getting a facelift. According to the automaker, the changes we should expect are a re-engineered body shell, improve handling, more convenience, additional safety features, better-designed exterior and an enhanced powertrains that will deliver a high fuel economy and low carbon emission. This is in line with Kia’s plan for its new products.
Since it was introduced to the market in the late 2009, the Kia Sorento has recorded high sales around the world. An official statement actually put the exact figure of sorento sold till date at 620,000. Obviously, it is an important product, and the upgrade is understandable. Kia has taken buyers’ opinions to heart, and reacted to users’ feedback by embanking on its newest project to produce the future Sorento 2014. It should be noted that the project is not only a cosmetic exercise, but a step toward making the sorento a better and more popular brand. Having only been released some few years ago, its features and the technologies used in the making are still fairly modern, so there will only be some minor, but significant changes in the incoming car.
2014 Kia Sorento Changes
The 2014 Kia Sorento has been spotted. While the prototype was heavily disguised, we saw some photos that gave us hints of what we should expect. The car will drop the boxy look for a more attractive slender feel, and it will get a little curvier than before. The redesigned 2014 Sorento will have new bumpers with larger fog lights, restyled LED headlights, new LED rear combination tailgate lamps, a 19-inch alloy wheels and a larger panoramic roof without the crossbar.
As of this moment, we are not sure how far the interior of the 2014 Sorento will be changed. All we know is that after the enhancement, the interior will have some nice soft touch materials that will give it a premium feel. The biggest changes we are expecting on the inside of the car are a redesigned centre console with a leather-booted lever and a straight-gate selector made for automatic transmission models and a new small LCD instrument display with a new 7-inch screen. We also expect the Korean automakers to offer the Sorento in both five and seven configurations.
2014 Kia Sorento fuel ecomony
Engine options expected from the Sorento 2014 are the same ones that came with the previous model. There is also a possibility of an optional all-wheel drive system and a six speed transmissions. Whatever Kia decides to do with the engine, we know that the 2014 Kia cars will offer smoother handling and a better fuel economy. The most fuel efficient 2013 Sorento delivers 22/32 mpg city/highway, there is no reason why there should not be an improvement this time around.
The base price has not announced, but we have been told that the revamped Sorento will debut at showrooms later this year. With the expected Fuel economy, front fascia and rear end, the 2014 Kia Sorento’s will definitely look good.
