Auto Shows are always eye catching events, and the 2013 North America International Auto show has lived up to the billing as the biggest of them all. Many vehicles have since dropped their wraps but one of the most impressive vehicles we have seen so far is the 2014 Kia Cadenza.
Cadenza Styling and features
Kia’s chief designer, Peter Schreyer and his team took the styling of the Kia Cadenza 2014 in a riskier direction. Unlike all the previous U.S. spec models, its design language is inspired by the European spec models. Up front, the 2014 Kia Cadenza features an aggressive front fascia, quad headlamps and chrome accents which surround its fog lights and grille. The LED headlamps are standard; optional HID headlamps are also offer.
The 2014 Cadenza will be offered as a single model but two option packages will be available: the premium and the technology package.
At base-level, the 2014 Kia Cadenza features an eight-inch touchscreen complete with UVO infotainment, a 550-watt Infinity 12-speaker audio system, leather seat trim, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear seat ventilation, keyless entry with push-button start and a 10-way power adjustable driver seat.
The premium package comes with a panoramic sunroof, HID headlamps with adaptive front/lighting system, Nappa leather seats, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel and an LCD instrument cluster. If you want to take the Kia Cadenza 2014 model’s driving performance to the next level, I suggest you go for the technology package. The package comes with electric parking brake, Advanced Smart Cruise Control, radar-based blind spot detection system, water-repellent hydrophobic windshield, lane departure warning system and rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.
Performance
The new front-drive four-door Cadenza unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Auto show is the only U.S.-spec Kia sedan built with a V-6 engine. It will be powered by a 293-hp and 255 lb-ft of torque 3.3-liter V-6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. We expect its EPA ratings to be somewhere near the 2013 Azera’s (which uses the same engine and transmission) 20/29/23 city/highway/combined mpg. The car is also expected to record a 0-60-mph time of 6.7 seconds.
To ensure that the car perform maximally on all surfaces, the 2014 Kia Cadenza features an independent suspension with a McPherson strut setup in front and a multilink rear design, and a manual shift mode complete with paddle shifters.
2014 Kia Cadenza competitors
The new car will compete alongside Kia’s current line-ups of sedan models, Forte, Optima and Rio in the highly competitive full-size sedan segment. Other 2014 Kia Cadenza competitors are the Hyundai Azera, Nissan Maxima, Toyota Avalon, Ford Taurus, Lexus ES, Lincoln MKZ, and the Buick LaCrosse.
Release Date and Price
The pricing information of the car has not been released, but we expect the base price to be around $34,000.
So, how will the 2014 Cadenza fair in the market when it is released? 2013 North America International Auto show is getting hotter by the day, but it will not provide an answer to this question; we can only wait to find out when the car hit the market later in the year.
