Hyundai’s Korean CEO has told the press that a revamped Hyundai Sonata will be released very soon, shortly after the new Genesis is released in late 2013. The 2011 Sonata was a complete remake. The bland mould was torn down to produce one of the best looking Sonatas till date. It is the class of the midsize class! This complete remodelling is now the trend among Hyundai cars. The virtues of the sonata made it one of the best cars in 2011, and the Hybrid model is also a hit with up to 40 mpg on the highway. So, why is the rush to build 2014 Hyundai Sonata? Given the fierce competition among cars, there is always a need to improve an already good car.
Well, the last time Sonata wore a new look was four years ago. Why we cannot actually call the current model’s design out-dated, it is not new either. Hyundai is releasing the 2014 Sonata so that Sonata can also fit into its new aggressive styling just like every other Hyundai Series. There is so much competition for buyers in the mid-size segment. Since Toyota Camry got a complete makeover in the 2013 model, other domestic and import competitors are doing the same thing in order not to lose their buyers.
As of this moment, Hyundai has not revealed its plan for the Hyundai Sonata 2014 to the public. There is a chance that the upgrade on the incoming model will not be too drastic. No one will like to change a winning formula. As it is, the current Sonata is Hyundai’s winning formula. It accounts for about 35% of Hyundai sales in 2011. Even with the competition for buyers, we do not expect the automaker to take any radical change now. The design will likely receive some minor enhancement. We suspect Hyundai may concentrate on just two key areas: value and refinement, instead of pulling stunts like it did with the Equus and Veloster.
Since the Sonata hit the market, Hyundai has been adding value to it. Life warranty on hybrid batteries, improved fuel economy and Blue Link telematics are just some of the values that found their ways in over times. We expect Hyundai to add more value to the 2014 Sonata to make it an upgrade version of the current model.
2014 Hyundai Sonata Engines
When the current model got to the showroom last year, even the critics were impressed with the value for the money, dramatic styling and above-average fuel economy. Its drivetrain options are in a different class. There is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower has a highway mileage of 35 mpg and a 2.0-liter engine rated at 274-horsepower has 34 mpg highway mileage. All Hyundai needs to do with the Hyundai Sonata 2014 is to do a mild facelift. Buyers will stay loyal and competitors will not be able to hang with it.
As we said earlier, we expect the 2014 Hyundai Sonata to be released for sale in early 2014. It may be launched as a 2015 model in some places. Price details are not available now, but if the car follows in the footsteps of the Veloster and the Elantra, its price will not deter buyers from taking to it completely.

I am a 100% satisfied owner of a 2011 Sonata G.L.S. with 40,000 + miles. I am 67 years old and have owned a lot of cars over the last 50 years. I can truthfully say that this car is the best car by far I have ever owned ! ! I would advise Hyundai to be careful ! its hard to improve on near perfection . Having said that if it can be improved Hyundai can do it ! ! !
