The full-size 2014 Ford Taurus SHO Sedan will be the quickest and most equipped member of Ford’s Taurus sedan line-up. It will also boast of a superb handling.Ford has updated its 2013 Taurus SHO with revised exterior styling and a refined interior with more luxury content for the 2014 model year.
Changes or redesign
The 2014 Ford SHO features an aggressive front fascia with a bold hexagonal grille design. Notable exterior features include the mesh grille trim, unique HID headlamps, Full LED taillights, a rear lip spoiler, Fender-mounted scallops containing the SHO badge and stylish 19-inch wheels.
Although the Taurus SHO 2014 is not as big inside as the exterior looks suggest, it is not choky either and it offers an impressive list of technology features along with some eco-minded materials. Petroleum-derived materials used for making the seats on the previous model were dropped for a soy-based material, which leaves a more eco-friendly byproduct and helps reduce dependence on oil.
2014 Taurus SHO Trim Level Breakdown
The new Ford SHO comes in 3 trim levels: SE, SEL and Limited trim.
The Taurus SHO comes standard with convenience features such as SYNC, Ford’s Bluetooth-based connectivity system and the MyFord Touch, an infotainment system that allows users control everything in the car with voice commands.
Powertrain
A 3.5-liter engine paired with a twin independent variable camshaft timing to produce 288 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque is the standard powertrain on all 2014 Taurus SHO models. The engine returns 19/29 mpg in the city and on the highway.
Buyers can also go for a turbocharged and direct-injected EcoBoost four-cylinder motor in place of the V6. The engine delivers 270 lb-ft and 240 ponies, and its fuel economy is given as 22/32 mpg in the city and on the highway.
The two engine units come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel-drive is the default configuration but V6 models are also offered in an all-wheel-drive configuration.
Occupant Safety
Every Taurus SHO 2014 model will come standard with safety features such as dual front and side airbags, an electronic brake-force distribution, and traction and stability control systems. A collision warning system and a blind spot warning system with cross traffic alert are offered on the upper-trim models
2014 Taurus SHO Performance and Improvement
Just like what Ford did with other Taurus models, the new Taurus SHO benefits from some minor efficiency improvements. The 2014 Ford SHO features some unique shock absorbers, stabilizer bars, springs and strut mount bushings which help in delivering impressive road handling, cornering agility and steering responsiveness. Vehicle performance is also improved by the Multilink SR1 design rear suspension which gives it an enhanced dynamic control.
Other notable improvements in the 2014 Ford Taurus SHO include a smart battery management system, a low-tension front end accessory drive belt, variable-displacement air conditioning compressor, more aggressive fuel shutoff during deceleration and reduced friction lubricants on all power units. Extra insulation and baffles were also used on the car to help reduce noise levels.

2014 Taurus SHO will compete in the full-size sedan segment with cars such as the stylish Chrysler 300, the Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala and the Hyundai Azera . Although the car faces strong competition, Ford believes that all the improvements listed above will take the car to the top of its segment.
