Mustang will mark its 50th anniversary in April 2014, and it is set to mark it in a big way by releasing the 2014 Ford Mustang. According to a report we got, the vehicle will bear some remarkable differences from the current model. Ford has decided that the new Mustang will still come with the round headlights, triple-lens taillight and shark-nosed grille, but the car will be designed to look totally different.

Another report suggests that the Ford Mustang 2014 will share a close resemblance with the Evos Concept. This change in design can be linked to the reported low sale that was recorded recently. Since the 4 per cent drop in sale in 2011, Ford has been looking at some strategies to win back the car-buying market. The car manufacturing company wants their next-generation sports car to get more appeal from car enthusiasts in global markets. The plan is to produce cars that will appeal to the generation Y consumers. It should be noted that it is widely believed that the generation Y will make up to 40 per cent of the market by 2020.

Although it will still look like a Mustang, our source told us that Ford is planning to produce a car that will have some highly technical and more modern exterior design. The only thing critics will be able to call backward about it is the expected long hood and short deck.

There has been a rumour that a new engine is coming. Thanks to our inside source, we now know exactly what to expect. We have always suspected that Ford will likely introduce an Eco-Boost engine into the 2014 Mustang. We have now confirmed this to be true. We also got an indication that the 4-cylinder Eco-boost will make an entry into the US car market through the Ford explorer. The biggest news we received is that the 5.0 litre V8 and 3.7 litre V6 engines are still coming, though it will be engineered to produce more power.

The most popular rumour we have heard is that the 2014 Ford Mustang will be designed to be more acceptable on a global platform, especially in the UK market by making it smaller than the 2011 model. Nowadays, Mustang cars are bigger than it was when production started in the early 1960’s. This is a welcome development. The reduction in weight will give it a better handling advantage over the better equipped Chevy Camaro. The cut in “fat” is a proof that Ford is putting everything in place to meet up with safety standards that will be enforced as from 2014.

Another thing we heard about the 2014 Mustang is that it will come with an independent rear suspension setup to improve the handling capabilities. While the IRS will make driving a better experience if you are an advance driver, most people will not like this. The IRS makes the car more difficult to launch hard and less emotional.

Thanks to the new chassis and the high performing engine that is coming, regardless of how the Ford Mustang 2014 will look like, we know that it will continue to be the longest running car in the US market, and we cannot wait to have it.
