There is no doubt about it, 2014 Chevy Corvette will offer great performance. Chevrolet gives probably the best dollar-for-dollar performances in the auto industry. Not only this, over time, Chevy has showed us that it listens to everyone’s opinion, and it always make use of feedbacks when upgrading. This is why car enthusiasts get excited whenever an upgrade is announced.
The next generation Chevy Corvette 2014 is set to go into production soon. Fortunately, we have spotted it during testing. Unfortunately, the car was well camouflaged. We noticed two mules: a convertible and a coupe but they wore the current C6 bodies. The spy photos we got did not reveal much to us, but we have some ideas of what the 2014 Corvette is all about.
2014 Chevy Corovette Changes and Engines
Big changes are planned for the 2014 Chevy Corvette. There have been speculations about the engine, but we know that a smaller and more efficient twin-turbo 5.5-liter V-8 engine is on the way. It is also a fact that the direct injection and higher compression ratio that is coming will ensure that the new V-8 engine offer the same power as (or slightly better than) the 430-bhp produced by the bigger 6.2-liter small-block V-8 engine. We also expect features like variable-valve timing, cylinder deactivation and stop-start functionality. The stop-start feature may have to be deactivated by the buyer because it only hinders a V-8 engine. Moreover, there are already many features in the car that guarantee better fuel economy.
As for transmission in the 2014 Corvette, a 7-speed manual transmission will be available. Although we have not confirmed this, a seven- or eight-speed dual-clutch automatic may also make an entry. Aluminium and other weight reducing materials like magnesium will be used to boost performance and increase efficiency. The new transmissions and the weight saving materials that will be used are expected to offer faster acceleration.
What we have seen recently has given us a better idea of how the exterior of the Chevy Corvette 2014 will look like. It will be leaner and tauter than before. The profile we have seen is a proof that the car will be curvy, its silhouette will be wedge-like, fenders will be a bit flared and the wheelbase will be longer. The headlights are more vertical, the front grille is wider and taller, the front and rear overhangs have been trimmed and the longer wheelbase made the cabin roomier. We also know that there are plans to make the exterior a bit more aerodynamic and to cut off some excess fat, all in a bid to make the car more fuel efficient, increase its handling and improve its MPG.
The Quad exhaust ports are located closer to each other to ensure that the diffuser is wider and more effective. We also expect to see some brake cooling ducts to join up with the exhaust ports at the back to give the 2014 Chevy Corvette a menacing look. The 6.2 pushrod side vents in the rear has been replaced with a 5.5-litre version.
The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette is set to debut late 2012 or early 2013. The price is not expected to change much from the $50,000 price of the current model. With a better engine performance and the various cosmetic enhancements, it is set to take on the world’s best cars.
