Chevrolet’s plan to build a real-world option for gasoline free, emissions free, fun transportation has come to fruition with the production of a new Chevy Spark EV. General motors unveiled the 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV at an event held before the Los Angeles Auto Show opened.
The front wheels, five-passenger pure-electric Spark EV 2014 uses a 20-plus kilowatt-hour battery pack and thanks to its 130 horsepower (110 kW) and 400 pound-feet of torque electric motor, it can make 60 mph in less than eight seconds.
2014 Chevrolet Spark EV features and specs
In order to build a car that maximizes battery range, Chevrolet set out to improve the vehicle’s aerodynamics right from the styling. Designers and aerodynamic engineers added the equivalent of 2.5 miles of real-world range to the car through the styling details; it has a lean, muscular design.
Just like the Chevrolet Volt, 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV changes with a prominent upper grille and an automatic shutter system. The full-length underbody panels and the shutter system help reduce drag and guide airflow around the vehicle, while an integrated rear spoiler and the wheel deflectors carry airflow around and away from the car. 2014 Spark EV redesign exterior colors include Black Granite, Electric Blue, Summit White, Silver Ice and Titanium.
With 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV changes, the interior of the car balances a spacious and luxurious cockpit with a combination of bright accents in Electric Blue and chrome, and some noise-reduction features. With its 86.3 cubic feet of passenger space, the car is roomier than the Ford Fiesta and Fiat 500. You can also get a full 23.4 cubic feet of storage space when you fold down the rear seat.
The 2014 Chevy Spark EV features a pair of seven-inch LCD screens, which can display battery charge levels and shows how far the car will go based on the way it is driven. The car also features some tech upgrades present in the regular Spark such as the MyLink infotainment system.
The Spark EV 2014 will be one the smallest battery electric vehicle when it is goes on sale next summer. Chevrolet tries to make up for the small battery with an impressive charge time and a low price of entry.
With a SAE Combo DC Fast Charging capability and other cutting-edge electric power technology like a regenerative braking and liquid thermal conditioning, the 2014 Spark EV redesign is expected to have one of the best EV battery range in its segment. The new Chevy is compatible with both AC240V and AC120V chargers. With 240 volts of electricity, the car can be fully charged in seven hours. It can hit 50 percent charge in 12 minutes and 80 percent in just 20 minutes.
Safety
Driver’s and their passengers’ safety is always Chevrolet’s a top priority. Some modern safety features like the Stability Control System, Hill Start Assist and 10 standard air bags will be offered with the 2014 Chevy Spark EV
Sales are planned for only California, Oregon, Canada, Europe, and South Korea at the moment. Pricing information has not been released, but Chevy did reiterate that the 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV will be priced under $25,000 after all tax incentives. An eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty will be offered on the battery pack.

Chevrolet made an impressive move releasing the car during the LA auto show premiere. Priced at $32,500, this mini car is equipped with five doors along with a batter pack of 20 kWh which is used to drive the front wheels. 400 pound feet of torque generated from the 110 kW electric motor enables the car speed up from 0 to 60 mph in just 8 seconds. Further along the line, you can expect a better EV battery range and the capability to charge the battery up to 80% within 20 minutes.
