2013 is shaping up to be a big year for car enthusiasts, many cars have been unveiled at the 2013 North American International Auto Show and more are still waiting to be unveiled in the coming days. The 2013 Detroit Auto show started with the drama and pomp one would expect from the world’s biggest car show on January 14, 2013 and the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray quickly shed its wrap.
Chevrolet aims of bringing back the success of the legendary Corvette C2 received a boost when the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was unveiled. The design language oozed out and we were all impressed with what we saw when the wrap were pulled off. The car has an aggressive and sophisticated look with Ferrari-like side windows that blend with its C-pillars.
Body style
The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is a 2-door, rear-wheel drive hatchback coupe with removable roof panel. The redesigned Chevrolet Corvette Stingray incorporates a new powertrain and supporting technologies with new interior designs, and rides on an all-new hydroformed aluminum frame structure with magnesium structure and chassis components. The car is about an inch and half wider and three inches longer than the outgoing model. Although GM has not said anything about its weight, it promises a good power-to-weight ratio.
The structural change in the 2014 Corvette Stingray is a weight saving measure which helps it to meet the ever-increasing crash regulations. This will reduce the bulk weight by 99 pounds while increasing its rigidity by 57-percent.
Interior
Soft-touch surfaces spread all through the interior of the redesigned Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, from the door armrests to the sides of the transmission tunnel. The cabin features real aluminum trim and optional carbon fiber accents, and will be available in a number of colors including black, grey, red and Kalahari brown. The Corvette Stingray 2014 model also comes with features such as a Driver Mode Selector and new Chevy’s MyLink interface and surfaces wrapped in Napa leather, carbon fiber, aluminium or micro-suede.
Powertrain
An impressive 6.2-liter V8 LT1 engine paired with a 7-speed manual transmission will supply 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque to the Corvette Stingray 2014 base model. With the transmission, it will achieve a 0-60 time of less than 4 seconds and it will be able to pull over 1g in lateral acceleration. Thanks to the transmission and the cylinder-deactivation tech, it will be the most fuel-efficient Corvette. Its EPA-estimate will exceed the 26 mpg of the current model. A six-speed auto with paddle shifters is also offered as an optional transmission system.
Thanks to recent technological advancements and new design, Chevrolet has upped the ante and placed the 2014 Corvette Stingray in a class with the legends. It is only a Corvette which embodies high performance, cutting-edge technologies, impressive design and amazing driving experiences that is bold enough to wear the iconic Stingray designation. With what we have seen and heard, the new Chevrolet Corvette is a true Stingray.
The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray goes on sale in the third quarter of 2013, likely September at a price to be announced closer to its release date.

The car looks amazing especially the model in red. However, people could debate over the car rear. It certainly looks to have surpassed the expectations of its viewers especially considering the on-paper design of the car. People having the slightest of double thoughts on the car would want to go for a test drive. The interiors of 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray also seem to have been remodeled.
