2014 BMW X5 changes

It is still as big as its predecessor but 2014 BMW X5 changes in some little ways; its proportion has been slightly altered, it will be built on a modified variant of the F10 5 series chassis. It has a sportier driving experience, and until the next generation of the X6 arrives, the new BMW X5 will remain the sportiest SUVs in the class. It has a more dynamic ride, and it is based on the 5 Series architecture; this explains its significant lower weight (more than 100 kilograms or 220 lbs weight reduction).Other changes include the edge of the side windows which drops toward the front of the car, an aggressive front and rear bumper, stronger brakes, bigger wheels, quad exhaust and a roofline which drops in a coupe-like fashion.

2014 BMW X5 exterior

The new X5 looks like an over-sized X1 when viewed from the side. On the front end of the BMW X5 2014, an upright twin-kidney grille is noticeable. The headlights resemble the upgraded “four-eye” lamps seen on most recent BMW’s passenger cars. The front bumper looks like those on new M models; it features some air curtain vents. An illuminated guide strips and large exhaust tips are noticeable on the rear end. All the X5 models will also be all-wheel drive and they will a fine tuned suspension, a different wheel and new tire

2014 BMW X5 Engines

The 2014 BMW X5 changes only slightly under the hood. Despite the poor sales performance of the X6 Active Hybrid, a hybrid engine will still be offered; the electric motor used on the BMW 3-series and 5-series ActiveHybrids could be introduced in the X5 as well. From what we have heard, a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine paired with a motor and battery pack will be available. A 3.0-litre six turbo-diesel will be offered in at least two states, and one of them will get to the U.S. With these diesel engines, the car will be one of the most efficient vehicles available when it is released. A 4.4-litre, twin-turbocharged V-8 gasoline engine is expected. A new turbocharged inline-four will not be offered on the entry-level models again; it will only be offered on the X3 models.

An eight-speed automatics transmission and an engine stop-start system will be used across the line-up to help increase its fuel economy. Several new BMW technologies such as the iDrive Touch Controller System and a pedestrian airbag are expected to debut in the BMW X5 2014. With new electronics architecture, it will likely offer all the telematics and connectivity option found on the BMW 5-, 6- and 7-series.

The X5 is expected to be unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. Pricing information is not available at this moment; it will be available shortly before the car is launched. The 2014 BMW X5 will get to the dealership in late 2013 or early 2014

It could be a bit early to decide whether anyone should go for BMW X5 or 4GC but this new generation car look promising. One of the areas where it could differ from mini vans is that a mini van would usually have a larger setup fopr wheel tires.

The 2014 BMW X5 definitely looks agressive with rear lights, new door handles and two LED strips but the tail lights could be disappointing.
