Photo gotten from spy photographers who caught up with an undisguised 2014 BMW M3 sedan while being tested in July and a report from the BMW North America president, Ludwig Willisch suggested that the next M3 is worth waiting for. According to our sources, the car will be lighter, faster, better performing and more reliable than the current M3!

After considering a V6 engine, the automaker settled for the tried and tested inline six. So, history is in the making as the BMW 2014 M3 comes out with a new twin-turbo 3.0 liter straight six engine. The straight-six engine will deliver roughly the same output as the old V8 (420 PS). But the turbo effect will result in 100 lb-ft more torque. This means that the new engine will deliver approximately 395 lb-ft. An optional or standard manual transmission will be offered. While its top speed remains at about 155 mph, the car will be able to make a 0 to 60 mph sprint in just 4.5 seconds.

The car is being developed to have a lower curb weight. The body will be made up of a mix of ultra-light carbon fiber-reinforced plastic and steel. If things work according to plan, the BMW M3 2014 would weigh as low as 3,415 lbs (1549 kg) which is around 300 lbs (136 kg) less than the current model.

The 2014 BMW M3, which may appear in M4 badge as either a coupe or convertible form could be unveiled as a concept at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, after which it will go on sale later in the year or early 2014. So, more details may be available early next year.

There is a cut-throat competition in the sports coupe segment, so the M3 Coupe has a lot to do in order to keep up with models such as the Audi RS5, the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe and the Mercedes C-Class Coupe AMG version that was unveiled at the last Paris motor show. One would expect a German model car like the M3 to be head and shoulder above an American sports coupe, but the CTS-V coupe has proved itself against the M3 and it came on top. Aside its $5000 cheaper price, the Cadillac is a more attractive car. It is a higher performing car with its 556 HP V8; it made a 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.9 seconds. The BMW M3 2014 will give the Audi RS5 a good run for its money. Both cars have identical performance ratings, but the RS5 is more attractive with its turbocharged V8 engine.

The 2014 BMW M3 may not be the best sports car out there when it hits the dealerships, but it has a rich history. In its 25 years of existence, the BMW M3 has seen four generations and it evolved from a 200 HP 2.3 liter inline-four cylinder engine to an impressive 420 HP V8 engine. It combines most of the necessary virtues of a sports car: It offers a great performance, best class handling ability, and a luxurious interior. The M package offer plus its extraordinary look are wonderful qualities that could attract most sport car buyers.
