The fourth generation 2014 Acura TL was presented at this year’s International Auto Show in New York. Like its predecessor, The Acura TL 2014 was created to meet the needs of consumers who requested for an all-around luxury car. It offers a refined ride, a spacious cabin and an impressive list of latest convenience features. The car became a global phenomenon and the bestselling vehicle from the company in 1995 after the Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company dropped the old Acura Vigor tag. In 2006, the car received the Best Sports Sedan and Best Blend of Sport and Luxury award. The current TL also received Best Cars for Families award. The current model is also a class leader with its unique features. Despite all these accomplishments, the Acura TL is coming with some changes for the 2014 model year.

The 5-passenger TL 2014 model comes with some notable exterior features, among which are the LED “JEWEL EYES” lights. The car will also be offered in more exterior colors than the current model.

Acura is renowned for its attention to details, and the Acura TL 2014 model will not be an exception. The higher quality materials used in the interior reflected some of the changes in the new TL. Although an insider warned that the interior will not be made in soft wood and tufted leather, the vehicle will still give a modern and tech-oriented luxury ambience. The model stays loyal to Acura TL’s tradition; it is well-equipped with advance features and adheres strictly to the latest trends in modern technology.

When comes to infotainment, one of the notable changes consumer will observe is the introduction of a new 6-disc DVD-Audio system with 225 watt 8 speakers. The poor navigation interface buyers complained about in the current model will also be improved in the TL 2014.

2014 TL seats

The new Acura 2014 TL comes with one of the widest interior space you can find in its segment. The vehicle will continue to feature plenty of room for passengers, like its predecessors. It boasts of enough legroom, even for the backseat occupants. Add all these to its features and you get a car that is more passenger-friendly than many luxury sedans. The generously sized interior and features make it the perfect vehicle for your highway trips. The cargo space offered in a 2013 TL FWD model is estimated at 13.1 cubic feet, while the AWD models have an even smaller cargo space of 12.5 cubes. There are speculations that the Japanese automaker is preparing a little surprise for the 2014 TL model buyers. The base 3.5-liter engine (rated at 280 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque) paired with a six speed manual transmission will make a comeback, but we have been told by an insider that a new direct-injected Earth Dreams engine will be offered for the first time in the Acura TL model. This engine will deliver around 310 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. Just like the previous models, an all-wheel drive will be available for 2014 model.

We expect that Acura 2014 TL will hit showroom by fall.

Safety enhancements

Just like most of its rivals in the midsize luxury sedan segment, Acura pats good attention to passengers’ safety. The 2013 TL comes with front-seat side-impact and side curtain airbags, active front head restraints, antilock disc brakes with brake assist, and a stability and traction control. The vehicle earned the highest rating of “Good” in the frontal-offset, side-impact and roof-strength tests in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety testing, and received a four-star rating for total frontal-impact protection, total side-impact protection and overall protection in the government crash tests. We expect the TL 2014 model to improve on this or at least be on a par with its predecessor.

Competitors

2014 Acura TL will compete with cars like the Infiniti G37 and the Buick Regal for buyers attention when it hits the market. Although the new Acura TL will come with an improved performance, a spacious interior with modern technological features and good fuel efficiency, an  Acura TL Special Edition will also be introduced, in order to maintain Acura TL’s leadership position in the highly competitive market.
