In 2012, Toyota did an upgrade on the subcompact Yaris; it stopped the production of the sedan version and increased the overall length of the car. Fast forward to the present, a new Yaris is set to debut at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, the 2013 Toyota Yaris. The new car will compete in the small cars segment with the Hyundai Accent, Mazda2, Ford Fiesta and the Fiat 500 which is the class leader.
2013 Toyota Yaris Trims
2013 Yaris subcompact will be available as a two or four-door hatchback, and it will be offered in three trim levels, these are:
- Base L
- LE and
- Sportier SE.
2013 Yaris changes
The blacked-out B and C pillars are the main styling changes that will come with the 2013 Yaris. According to Toyota, the new Yaris was designed to appeal to the younger, trendier and design-conscious customers. Toyota realised that if it wants to compete with the Fiat, it has to build a car that will meet the needs of those who want wheels but not ready to pay any premiums for them.
Outside, the Yaris will feature a roof spoiler, chrome door sills, LED lights and will ride on two-tone 16-inch alloy wheels. Although the cabin will not have any premium feel, it will have most of the things buyers expect to see in cars these days. The cabin will have a black-and-white theme with softer fabrics and an improve connectivity with Bluetooth phone pairing capability and satellite radio.
The Toyota Yaris 2013 base L trim level will come with a tech audio among other standard equipment. The Tech Audio system includes a HD Radio, Satellite Radio compatible, auto sound levelling, auxiliary audio jack, six speakers, USB port with iPod connectivity, music streaming (via Bluetooth wireless technology and iPod interface), phone book access, hands-free phone capability, and an AM/FM CD player (with MP3/WMA playback capability and MP3 sound enhancement). Cruise control is now standard on the LE trim level.
2013 Toyota Yaris Engines
2013 Yaris subcompact will be powered by a 106-hp, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine, and will use a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. The estimated fuel efficiency is 30 mpg in the city and 35- 38 mpg in the highway.
There is also a 2013 Yaris Hybrid that will combine the modern designing and agility of the Yaris model with the efficiency of a Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD). With its strong performance, strong acceleration, wonderful manoeuvrability, high fuel economy, impressive environmental impact and the EV capabilities, the hybrid is the real urban car. The base Yaris Hybrid trim is priced at $22,410, and that is the cheapest hybrid car on the market at the moment. It is also one of the most fuel efficient combustion-engine vehicles available now. It gets its 98 HP from a 1.5L VVT-i engine and an electric motor.
