So, what happens when all automakers are trying to please the buyers? Simple, competition increases. With intense competition in the crossover class, how will a 2013 Toyota RAV4 fair against a 2013 Ford Escape? Could this brand new Toyota have the capacity needed to topple the Ford in the market? When comparing 2013 Toyota RAV4 vs 2013 Ford Escape, the choice depends on the customer alone. As the successor of the current models, the Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape were designed to bring an improved and better riding experiences for their loyal customers. The new technologies used in developing the vehicles will fulfil consumers’ desire and overtake previous accomplishment.
With the 2013 Toyota RAV4 set to debut before the end of the year or in early 2013, we do not have to wait any longer for Toyota to tell us what to expect. We have seen some spy photos! The way the 2013 RAV4 was designed is quite different from the current model. It will be sleeker; the designer took some cues from the Lexus design playbook with its hourglass shaped grille. The photos we saw also reveal that the vehicle borrowed some design tips from the Camry. The headlights and the upholstered dashboard resemble those we saw on the Camry. We have heard that the vehicle will drop its V6 engine option for a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine in order to improve the fuel efficiency. Another rumour going on in the street is that it could also drop its third-row of seats just like the segment leaders Honda CR-V and Ford Escape.
The 2013 Ford Escape will change from being a boxy SUV-styled vehicle to one with fluid lines. A 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine is at the entry-level of the 2013 Escape just like last year, but it was re-engineered for better fuel economy with a 22/31 city/ highway rating. A 6-speed transmission is also available. The 5 seating capacity interior will offer real comfort with its 39.0 inches Rear Seat Head Room and 38.3 inches Rear Seat Leg Room.
While the RAV4 will likely have an engine option, Ford Escape 2013 model will replace its hybrid and V6 option with a 1.6 (rated at 24/33 mph city/highway) and a 240 horsepower 2.0 litre (rated at 22/30 mpg) Eco-boost engines. Last year, Ford did not pay much attention to design and Toyota RAV4 was an easy winner. The new model Ford Escape is sleeker and now more European! We do not know how roomy the Toyota RAV4 2013 model will be, but the cabin space in the Escape can compete with even the 2012 Honda CR-V. There is a hands-free lift gate in the top trims model of the Ford that even when you have loads on both hands, Just a kick under the rear bumper will open the door. Just imagine that!
Price information of the RAV4 has not been released. With the starting price of the Escape at $23,295 and also with the scrapping of its hybrid model, we expect it to be a bit expensive than the RAV4. But price apart, the Ford Escape 2013 with its more engine options and better transmission is set to remain at the top of the class, at least for another year.
