The Nissan Cube is not van and definitely not a crossover wagon, but it looks like both. One thing you cannot take away from it despite this oddity is that it is a beautiful vehicle. It is one of the most unique vehicles you can see anywhere today. Its style and packaging cannot be rivalled. Enough about the old Cube let me tell you a bit about the new 2013 Nissan Cube. Disregard the rumours on the street that the production of a new Nissan Cube has been stopped.

Whenever we want to get a car, we usually choose between a highly functional car and a stylish one, but with the 2013 Cube model you can eat your cake and still have it. I cannot tell you all you need to know about this vehicle now, information on it are still scanty, but based on the improvements we saw on the 2012 model, it is safe to conclude that the newest Nissan Cube model will even be better.

2013 Nissan Cube Redesign  and Features

Although we are still waiting for most official specifications, it is a safe bet that Nissan Cube 2013 will have most of the features that came with the 2012 model. From all indications it looks like three trim levels will be made available: A baseline, S and SL trims. Different features are expected, depending on the Trim level. The base model is expected to come standard with 15-inch steel wheels, keyless entry, AM/FM/CD stereo, air conditioning and full power accessories. The S trim level will likely come with a six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, USB/iPod interface and Cruise control. 16-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and ignition, climate control, automatic headlights and many more features are expected on the top-of-the-line SL version. We are also looking forward to having a rear-view camera, a touchscreen navigation system, an upgraded sound system, a satellite radio and fog lights on the preferred package.

2013 Nissan Cube Engine and Performance

The current Cube model has a high fuel efficiency of 27 and 31 mpg in the city and on the highway respectively. We can only expect an improvement on these figures from the expected four-cylinder engine that will offer 122 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. With this 1.8-litre engine, it will take 10.6 seconds to achieve a 100 km/h when the vehicle is at rest and 8.7 seconds to move from 80 to 120 km/h. Braking distance of the 2013 Cube is also expected to be 43.0 m.

2013 Nissan Cube Safety Features

If you think that this small vehicle will not offer much safety, you are wrong. The Nissan Cube 2013 got the highest rating for frontal-offset, side-impact and roof strength test from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests. It will come out with safety features like: Traction Control, Stability Control, 6 airbags, 5seatbelts, disc and drum ABS on front and rear tires respectively and steering will have rack and pinion, electrical variable assist.

In the Guide De L’Auto ratings, 2013 Nissan Cube was rated at 75%. The vehicle’s unique boxy design increased its cabin space; the engine affords a smooth ride and its expected base price of around $17,678 will make it a must have when it enters showrooms early next year and it will compete with the Honda Element, Dodge Caliber, Toyota Matrix, Nissan Juke and Kia Soul.
