2013 Nissan Altima versus 2013 Hyundai Sonata versus 2013 Toyota Camry

2013 models of the Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata are all scheduled for release this year. From what we have heard and seen, they are all great cars. To choose the most appropriate among them may be a bit challenging. In doing a “2013 Nissan Altima versus 2013 Hyundai Sonata versus 2013 Toyota Camry” analysis, we will not focus on the price alone (of course, the price matters a lot), we will also look at the features, styling and design, powertrains and performance.

First of all, let us look at the 2013 Nissan Altima. The new Altima was designed to be slightly lower, longer and wider than it used to be. With high fuel efficiency and some modern feature, it is definitely a car everyone will love to drive. There is a front-wheel, 182-horsepowered 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with continuously variable transmission and a 270-horsepower V6 engine is also available. So, the power-packed 4-cylinder engine will be appropriate if you like to travel in fast cruise. It uses a direct injection for fuel intake, and the EPA rating is about 27/35 mpg in city/highway. That is about 1 mpg better than the 2013 Ford Fusion, which uses a special system (1.6-liter Eco-Boost) to increase its fuel economy!

Now to the interior of the 2013 Nissan Altima: the use of low quality materials is common with cars in the midsize class! Thankfully, this does not plague the 2013 Altima. The only complain you may have is that the engine noise gets to the cabin (it is not that intrusive anyway). There is enough room for front and rear passengers, and the trunk is spacious also. Nissan has always been serious about technology, and this new Altima has some amazing features like lane-departure, blind-spot and rear moving-object alerts, pushbutton ignition, a backup camera, climate control and a 9-speaker stereo. The price is not bad either; the base price ranges from $21,500 to $25,360.

The 2013 Hyundai Sonata is coming with a standard six-speed automatic transmission unlike the previous manual system. There is an improvement in the choice of powertrain. You should expect to see the same 2.4-liter four-cylinder, and an optional 2.0-liter four turbo engine. it has a mileage of about 24/35 mpg city/highway. Features like backup camera, Infinity sound system and touch-screen navigation system will all be available, and its base price will range from $21,670 to $26,620 according to the trim level. The handling ability and steering are not the best in the class.

Toyota Camry 2013 model that is coming out this spring will not disappoint its fans. The car will be powered by an automatically transmitted 2.5L 4-cylinder engine. Style-wise, it cannot compete with the Hyundai Sonata 2013, but Toyota built on Camry’s existing strengths; it is spacious and comfortable with features like Bluetooth iPod input, infotainment and navigation systems and safety features like Side/Curtain Airbags, Stability and Traction Control. The base price will likely be around $21,995.

If I am in your shoes, and I have to do a 2013 Nissan Altima versus 2013 Hyundai Sonata versus 2013 Toyota Camry analysis, I will go for the Altima. Although the 2013 Hyundai Sonata’s fuel efficiency is rated higher than that of the others and the styling is the best in the class, and the Toyota Camry 2013 is arguably the most comfortable car in the class, with handling ability on my mind, the 2013 Altima will get my vote.

We would like to hear your opinion as well. Please post your comment
