There are always an Altima on the road, but the number is gradually increasing with the release of 2013 Nissan Altima. Altima brand has sold close to 4 million units in the past 20 years. It only came second to Toyota Camry in the midsize sedan range last year. Nissan believes that its product is superior to the Camry, and it is set to convince the car buyers all over the world. Altima is ready to topple the leader!
We used to complain about the Altima. The last time an Altima took part in a motor trend comparison test, it came seventh out of the seven participants. The fuel economy, back-seat space, and value were some of the things we were not happy with. But Nissan has done a cosmetic surgery on its product to bring to us the Nissan Altima 2013, a car we can all be proud of. The 109.3 inch wheelbase is still coming, it retains its sport disposition and there are still some noticeable resemblances with the previous model.
For a start, the 2.5-liter engine in the Altima 2013 has 182 HP as against the 175 horsepower found in the previous model. The engine is rated 27mpg in the city, and 38 mpg on the highway. This is a big improvement over the 23 and 32 mpg for city and highway respectively in the last model. The 3.5-liter V-6 engine with 270 HP was left as it was, but the new transmission, CVT increases its EPA figures from 20/27 to an amazingly high 22/30 mpg. Nissan has projected that about 90 per cent of the 2013 Altima buyers will go for the I-4 that is a full second faster at 7.4 sec to achieve a 60 mph as against the 8.4 seconds recorded for the earlier model.
Thanks to all the weight reduction measures taken by the manufacturer, the Nissan Altima 2013 has shed off the excess weight and it is believed to be the lightest Nissan car in the market. It now weighs just 3,108 pounds. The weight reduction has gone a long way in increasing its performance, and fuel efficiency. With the 2.5-litre engine, there are no more frequent stops at the gas station. It is simply the best when you are talking about fuel economy. The performance of the new Altima 2013 is rated high. Driving experience is so cool. Cutting edge technologies were made use off to give you the best. The acceleration is better than that of 2013 Camry, Sonata or even Accord.
All the friendly and modern technologies in the new Nissan car are not just for show, every button has a function. There functions are to make driving totally enjoyable. From the Moving Object Detector that will alert you to whatever you missed on the road, to the Instrumentation Design that is there to help reduce distraction by keeping you informed about things around you and even tires that tells you when they need air and when they have enough, 2013 Altima is well designed with innovations that will make every driver happy.
At a price and MPG range of $21,500 – $30,080 and 30 – 38 respectively, the 2013 Nissan Altima is a worth buying!
