Before the full-size crossover SUV (now referred to as CUV) came to the scene, the only seven-adult, lots-of-cargo vehicles are the SUVs, minivans and the passenger vans. The CUV does not only provide the space of an SUV, it offers smooth handling, good fuel economy and attractive exterior styling. If you want a CUV, you should consider waiting for the three-row 2013 Mazda CX-9 which will also offer sedan-like driving experience.

According to a report we got, the Mazda CX-9 2013 will likely come as a 2014 model as it will be launched in the U.K. towards the end of 2013. It is possible that it will not get to the U.S. before then too. So, we expect to see a preview concept later in the year or early in 2013. So, most of what we have on it at this point are mere speculations and expectations.

2013 Mazda CX-9 Changes

The Mazda CX-9 has been a success since it was introduced in 2007, and now the automaker is trying to build on the positive reviews the car has got over the years. It is a fact that Mazda always try to improve on its previous models, and we expect exactly that to happen again with the new CX-9. The 2013 Mazda CX-9 changes slightly from what we had before. Some lessons will be taken from the CX-5 development to introduce the next CX-9 generation. Mazda’s SkyActiv technology which has proved to be a success on the CX-5 will be used to design the 2013 CX-9. The engineers will try to reduce its weight as they increase its structural rigidity.

2013 CX-9 trims

The 2013 Mazda CX-9 trims that will be available are: Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trims. Each trim level will feature some modern day standard features that can make most CUV green with envy. The 2013 Mazda CX-9 base Sport trim will feature an 18-inch alloy wheels, telescoping steering with cruise control, air-conditioning, keyless entry and many others. Some of its safety features include Stability control, antilock brakes and curtain airbags.

The 2013 CX-9 Touring trim will include leather upholstery with heated and powered front seats and a second-row centre armrest. The Grand Touring trim will have a 20-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers, xenon headlights, keyless ignition/entry and electroluminescent gauges among other features. There will also be options like a navigation system, a rear DVD entertainment system, a towing package and a blind-spot warning system among many others.

Mazda CX-9 2013 Engines

The powertrain of the 2013 Mazda CX-9 changes also. The current model uses a 273 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque 3.7-litre V6, but Mazda said it is not working on a SkyActiv six-cylinder engine. This means a turbocharged four cylinder engine will likely come. All the 2013 Mazda CX-9 trims will likely be powered by a 173 HP and 310 LB-FT of torque 2.2-litre four cylinder engine. With the lightweight chassis, the engine should be enough to give the performance and the fuel efficiency wanted by the American market. Front-wheel drive will be standard and an optional all-wheel drive will be available on all trims, and just like the previous model a six-speed automatic will be the only transmission system on this model.
Pricing information of the Mazda CX-9 2013 is not known now.
