2013 Jeep Compass Review, Price and Specification

The 2013 Jeep Compass will be so much like its boxy cousin, the Jeep Patriot. Until recently, it was known for its tacky interior and poor style, but things have really changed; although it is still a bit conservative, now more attractive. It now wore a cosmetic enhancement in and out. The sheet-metal has changed, and the jeep can now pass for a mini grand Cherokee.

Although critics will point out that the Jeep Compass 2013  interior has not really gone through the revolutionary makeover we have all been waiting for and that the little change made on it increased the price exponentially. It now has a seven slot grille on its bright white, iron grey, black or intense red finishes, and a more noticeable bumper. The Compass 2013 will come out from the production unit with a clean black 18 inches rim wrapped in Firestone tires.

We will see some of the innovative features we saw in the previous edition in the interior of the 2013 Compass. The tailgate speakers and the rechargeable flashlight are all coming back. There is even now more noise insulation to prevent engine noise from getting inside. Features like traction control, curtain airbags, ABS, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Brake Assist and front-seat airbags are all there to ensure your safety in the jeep. There is enough headroom in the back of the Compass 2013 and the leg room has really increased.

While the 2013 Compass looks better and more appealing to the eyes, it is not more refined or better-performing than the previous editions. Just like in the Patriot, there is the standard 2.0-liter engine that produces 158 HP and the better performing 2.4-liter engine that produces 172 HP. The 5 speed manual transmission in the 2.4 litre engine will be well accepted, but the automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT) will be heavily criticised for its slow response and for being loud and vibration prone. It will offer 53.6 cu.ft. of cargo space. The expected MPG will be 23 for City and 29 for highway.

Bottom Line

There are unconfirmed rumours that the Jeep Compass 2013 that was originally scheduled for release in early 2013 will not be released again. We heard that Fiat is working on a replacement, the B-SUV. If this happened, it will be as a result of the spending review performed by Fiat regarding its future investment recently. If eventually the 2013 Jeep Compass is released, a 4 x 2 version of the car will go for around $22, 790 and the 4 x 4 model will be around $25, 090, excluding retail charges.
