2013 Hyundai Tucson Review

Competition among auto makers is always intense. Hyundai does not want to lose its position as one of the class leaders; the Korean auto maker is currently re-engineering its line of cars. The 2013 Hyundai Tucson is the latest Hyundai Tucson that is about to be released. The Tucson belongs to the popular Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) class. For the 2013 model, it will have some minimal changes. It will take some design tips from the Elantra platform. It comes with a fluid and sleek exterior design!

2013 Hyundai Tucson Trims and Specification

Hyundai Motor America told us sometimes ago to expect a wide range of upgrades in the new 2013 Tucson model, and it is set to fulfil its promises. A front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive arrangements has been made for the Hyundai Tucson 2013 model. It will be available in 5 trim levels: GL (FWD only), GLS PZEV, GLS, Limited and Limited PZEV trims. The entry-level GL trim will have a 165-horsepower 2.0-liter four cylinder engine whose mileage is expected to be around 23 city/31 highway miles per gallon. A standard 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission system will be made available at this trim level. GLS PZEV, GLS, Limited and Limited PZEV trims will be powered by a 176-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 22/32 mpg in the city and on the highway respectively. A six-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission system will be available.

Just like we saw in previous Hyundai vehicles, many standard features are about to be made available. Features like Bluetooth, iPod input, Satellite radio fog-lights, heated front seats and automatic headlight control are standard on the GLS PZEV and GLS trims. Navigation control is optional in the Limited and Limited PZEV trims.

At $20,070, the five-speed manual Tucson 2013 GL trim is a bit more expensive than before. The range-topping Limited trim level comes with a push button start and proximity key entry, but the price also increased to $26,270. The middle of the class GLS trim with a 6-speed automatic transmission system will be on sale at $23,420, this represent a $300 price increase over the 2012 GLS trim.

  1. Although the price increased, it is still cheaper than most Crossover vehicles. To soften the effect of the higher price, the vehicle is more comfortable with modern technological features like heated front seats, fog lights and automatic headlight control on GLS trim.

2013 Tucson Safety Features

Many safety features like six side and curtain airbags, active front head restraints, traction control, hill start assist, electronic stability control, vehicle dynamic control, downhill brake control, emergency stop signal and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake assist are expected. According to the IIHS, all these features will make the 2013 Hyundai Tucson Crossover a ‘Top Safety Pick’ and a great choice for those who are in need of a value oriented vehicle.
