The luxury car segment has always been a very competitive market and the competition will be more intense with the release of a new Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro to the market. Which of these cars do you think will win the 2013 Challenger vs Camaro competition?
The 2013 Dodge Challenger is a grand touring car with which you can cover miles in comfort. It also retains its quality as a muscle car. It reminds us of the first generation muscle-car that inspired it. The Hemi V-8 power under the hood is also a proof that the car is still loyal to the icon. Its aged design will appeal to the older buyers without alienating the youth. Its retro-modern speaks class. The car is offered in three trims: base, R/T and SRT8
When the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro was in the production unit, engineers prepared it for a challenge with the Challenger by making some adjustment to the already impressive car. The most notable addition to the Camaro brad is the return of the 1LE package. The 1LE package features a unique gearing and suspension tuning which combines to improve the car’s speed.
The 2013 Dodge Challenger vs 2013 Chevy Camaro contest starts from the way the cars were styled. The cars come with some impressive features. One of the most impressive updates introduced to the new Camaro is the revamped interior. Features such as the latest MyLink connectivity feature, a 7-inch touch-screen display and a navigation system were also added to the car.
The new five-seat Dodge Challenger offers reasonable comfort with its roomy interior and an impressive list of niceties. It offers enough head and leg room to front seat passengers and also comes with a huge trunk space. It features a rear-view camera, blind spot monitor, stability control, traction control, keyless entry and automatic climate control.
2013 Dodge Challenger vs 2013 Chevy Camaro Powertrain
The 2013 Dodge Challenger vs 2013 Chevy Camaro contest gets even tougher when you compare the choice of engines the two cars were built with. The 2013 Camaro keeps an all-aluminium 6.2 liter supercharged engine that delivers 580 horsepower and 556 lb.-ft. of torque under its hood.
On the other hand, the 2013 Challenger comes with a choice of V-6 or V-8 engine. The base trim is powered by a 305-hp 3.6-liter V6 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. On the R/T trim, a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine combines with a 5-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift control to deliver 372 horsepower. When the engine is paired with an optional 6-speed manual transmission, it delivers 376 horsepower. The SRT8 trim is built with a 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine which can be paired with a standard 5-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift control or an optional 6-speed manual.
The 2013 Camaro 1LE has a starting price of $37,035, the ZL1 Convertible model will start at $61,745. The 2013 Challenger has an MSRP of between $25,795 and $43,775.
If your focus is on speed, you should go for the 2013 Chevy Camaro, but if you want a more comfortable ride, go for the Challenger. The 2013 Dodge Challenger offers a better fuel efficiency (MPG City: 14 – 18 Highway: 23 – 27), more safety, smoother handling and more impressive features, and has my vote in this 2013 Challenger vs Camaro competition.
